Around and About Once
you are here there is plenty to enjoy. First of all there is Blacklake
Farm itself which you are invited to enjoy.
Blacklake Farm is situated on East Hill which is a beautiful,
tranquil place, renown in East Devon for its wonderful walks and rides. We are also close to
the South West Coast Path which runs along the coast at Sidmouth, Beer and
Branscombe, to name put a few of our local villages. The small towns and
villages or East Devon are unspoilt, un-touristy and typically Devon.
Sidmouth, just three miles away, is our local town and regarded as
East Devon’s Jewel in the Crown. Much
of East Devon is designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). East Devon’s Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site,
extends from Exmouth to Charmouth and beyond. Further afield but still
accessible for day trips, is Exeter with its beautiful Cathedral and
Green, the Blackdown Hills, Dartmoor, Exmoor, and the Teign Valley.
There
is a lovely beach at Sidmouth which is ideal for families with young
children. Pebbly when the
tide is in, but plenty of sand, rock pools and safe bathing at low tide. Exmouth
is a pretty town a few miles along the coast towards Exeter. It has an extensive beach with plenty of sand at any time.
There
are also pebbly, but lovely beaches at Budleigh Salterton, Beer,
Branscombe (National Trust) and a huge sandy beach at Charmouth which is
also home to the Jurassic Coast Visitor Centre where you can freely enjoy
digging fossils out of the rock before jumping into the sea! |
