The
Blacklake Flock of Dorset Down Sheep
The flock was established in 2001 exclusively from a draught
of ewes from Messrs W D Burroughs, Furley, near Axminster. This
flock is long established over several generations and is considered to be
one of the best flocks of Dorset Downs, dominating the show ring for a
considerable number of years.
Rams are home-bred or purchased from other notable flocks
which maintain pure Dorset Down bloodlines.
The Blacklake flock is farmed for its wool and meat.
Both of which are a very fine quality.
Shearling ewes are sold annually at the Society’s
annual sale, generally held in July.
We also have a small number of home-bred shearling rams for sale
which can be sold from the farm. You
are welcome to visit the farm to look at the flock at any time (by
appointment)
